A loam-based plant and vegetable compost with added horticultural grit creates a perfectly aerated texture that retains water well. Added John Innes No 1 formula meets a 4-week feed formulated for optimal rooting and growth.

An ideal flower compost or fruit compost, the versatile nature of the John Innes compost No 1 formula provides ideal conditions during the crucial first potting-on stage. With a slightly acidic 5.5-6.5 pH level it helps create soil conditions that plant roots love.

A light and friable texture is easy to work, so it’s great for transplanting, and it’s packed with essential nutrients and minerals. The nutrient content is kept low, so it doesn’t risk causing ‘nutrient burn’ with newly developed roots. This compost locks in moisture, while still draining freely to both reduce your watering frequency and help reduce overwatering.
